Business of Football Summit
The Business of Football Summit returned in February 2024 for its sixth edition to continue its exploration of the financial forces transforming the game. As more private capital floods into football, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe's agreement to buy a $1.3bn stake in Manchester Utd the latest high-profile deal, the question remains how profitable these investments can be. More broadly, the wealth gap between elite clubs and the rest of football is still a big talking point, even as regulatory structures are tightened. Also in focus are the expansion of international tournaments, the latest media rights tenders, Saudi Arabia's ambitions to become a football powerhouse, the increased investment in the women's game, and the European Court of Justice's ruling on UEFA and FIFA's response to the European Super League.
The Business of Football Summit gathered over 300 leading investors, club and league executives, regulators, broadcasters, tech innovators, advisors and other key influencers to discuss these issues and much more. They shared their insights in discussion with FT journalists, both in-person in London and virtually before a global audience.
